Following the closure of the passport portal on May 17, as directed by the minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) spokesperson, Amos Okpu, has in a statement issued on Tuesday, June 6, disclosed that the Federal government of Nigeria has approved the reopening of the application and payment portal.

He further said that acess to the website will be granted to intending applicants by the midnight of June 6. This is to enable them (intended applicants) who are eligible, apply, as well as make the necessary payments for their choice passport category.

However, he encouraged Nigerians to avoid unnecessary complications adding that invaluable efforts have been put in place to ensure that the process of application is seamless.

He explained that applicants should themselves visit the application portal where they will be expected to upload their documents for vetting and processing.

Any applicant he says, who is yet to submit an application as well make the required payments will be denied access into passport issuing centres.

Applicants would be contacted through their provided E-mail address and phone numbers when necessary, hence, they (applicants) should be honest when providing these details on the portal.
